Acclaimed filmmaker Julian Schnabel directs “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”, based on the painstakingly poignant autobiography of charismatic French ELLE magazine editor Jean-Dominique Bauby, who at 43 is left completely paralyzed by a destructive stroke and left with only a blinking eye for communication. Told almost entirely through his eye’s perspective, the film follows Bauby as he learns to conquer his condition with a still-intact and flourishing imagination and spirit of the mind.
