| Winner of the 2008 Audience Award at Sundance, CAPTAIN ABU RAED is a universal story of friendship, inspiration and heroism set in contemporary Jordan. The debut feature film for director Amin Matalqa picked up 27 international awards thus far and is already generating Oscar buzz in the foreign language film category. Abu Raed (Nadim Sawalha) is a lonely janitor at Amman’s International Airport. Never having realized his dreams of seeing the world, he turns brief encounters with travelers into stories for a group of neighborhood children who believe him to be an airline pilot. He takes them to colorful places around the world through his fictional stories and inspires them to believe in their own ambitions. |
