| Dustin Hoffman received a standing ovation at the Toronto International Film Festival for his directorial debut QUARTET, a charming and wickedly comic film about redefining old age. Based on Ronald Harwood’s stage play of the same name, the film centers on residents of an exclusive retirement home for musicians. Every year on Giuseppe Verdi's birthday, the residents unite to give a concert to raise funds for their home. But when a former grande dame of the opera fallen (played by Downton Abbey’s Maggie Smith) moves into the home, the plans for this year's concert start to unravel. |
