About
Cesar-winning director Martin Provost brings together two of French cinema's most beloved stars, Catherine Deneuve and Catherine Frot, in THE MIDWIFE. Gifted midwife Claire (Frot) has led a quiet life dedicated to her profession, but when the local maternity ward closes, she is forced to work for a larger, corporate clinic, where she struggles to adjust. Meanwhile, she receives a call from her late father's mistress Beatrice (Deneuve), who would like to meet again after thirty years. When they meet, Claire is reluctant to delve into the secrets of the past, or respond to a plea for help. The film provides an exquisite depiction of femininity and memorably questions the value of change.
